- 1/2 cup roasted sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1/2 cup red chilli
- 2-3 strings curry leaves
- 1/3 cup urad dal
- 1/2cup chana dal
- 1 tsp oil
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 1/2 tsp asafoetida powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt as per taste
- 1 tsp gun powder
Steps
- Firstly, in a heavy-bottomed pan add sesame seeds and dry roast till they turn golden brown.
- Keep aside.
- Further, add 2 tsp oil and fry dried red chilli, curry leaves, urad dal, chana dal
- Transfer to a blender and blend to a coarse powder.
- In an idli steamer brush some oil. Add the idli batter and steam it on a medium flame for 15 min
- Then, in a tawa or pan take a tsp of ghee.
- Once the ghee melts, coat mini idlis.
- Warm the idlis on both sides by flipping occasionally.
- Further add asafoetida powder, turmeric powder, salt and gunpowder.
- Toss and coat the idlis with podi masala on both sides.
- Fry the idli for a minute, making sure the idli gets warm inside as well.
- Finally, serve the idlis.
